Power of the press

Less than 24 hours after this story was published in the Rocky Mount Telegram, Operation Nineveh already had received phone calls for a hole sponsor for its upcoming golf tournament, and a church had offered to donate materials and labor for the interior walls.

Praise Jesus.

Making progress

For the past six months, things have been progressing here at Operation Nineveh on South Church Street in Rocky Mount. We've framed up the walls for the front part of the building, which will serve as our sanctuary.

Some day in the near future, we hope to open our doors to those in need of food and shelter.
But so much more work needs to be done. And we need help. We're looking for carpenters, plumbers, electricians, painters, drywall hangers.

If you can do any of these jobs, please come down and visit us. We truly believe that once you step through the doors and see the vision we have for Operation Nineveh, you'll catch the spirit.

Our hope in the coming months is that we can paint the front of the building, finish the walls in the sanctuary and construct a mandatory firewall dividing two sections of the building.

But we need help - both in monetary donations and labor. If God is calling you to help here, please listen.

Golf tournament

The 2nd Annual Operation Nineveh Charity Golf Tournament is almost here, and we think this year's event will be an even bigger success than last year's fundraiser.

It's being held April 16 at
Northgreen Country Club, and about a dozen teams have committed to play. But there's room for more - either as singles or teams. Plus, we're offering hole sponsorships this year for $100.

Call Bryan Bush for more information at 252-218-5544. Or call J. Eric Eckard at 252-210-2379.

Candidates for Nash County sheriff
Dick Jenkins and Ricky Parks both have agreed to sponsor holes during the tournament. And the Rocky Mount Telegram is sponsoring one of the snack stands out on the course.

But rounds of golf for the top teams are on the line next week - from sites like
Benvenue Country Club, Wilson Country Club, Birchwood Country Club and Heritage Golf Club.

Two closest to the pin contests and a long drive competition offer a chance for golfers to win prizes from
Adams Golf and Golf Pride.

And all participants will receive a goodie bag with gift cards from
Ecco, Outback Steakhouse and a chance of winning a prize pack that includes items from Adams Golf, Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson, Jimmy's Seafood Buffet, American Red Cross, Aapril Tax Service and lessons from teaching professional Bryan Bush.
